The Procedure

Overview

Impella 5.5® with SmartAssist® is implanted either directly through the axillary artery or ascending aorta using a single access point. Known as the surgeon's heart pump, Impella 5.5 with SmartAssist stabilizes hemodynamics, unloads the left ventricle, facilitates end organ perfusion and allows for recovery of native heart function.
