Learning Objectives

• Review a framework for early recognition of shock, safe patient management, and timely escalation or transfer when clinically appropriate.
• Identify clinical and operational factors that may influence recognition and management of cardiogenic shock in community-based care settings.
• Discuss considerations for patient stabilization, escalation planning, and transfer readiness within regional systems of care.
• Review patient management considerations following Impella support, including reassessment, recovery pathways, and interdisciplinary communication.

As with any medical treatment, individual results may vary. These risks need to be discussed with your doctor and recovery takes time. The success of this procedure depends on many factors, including your physical condition and your body’s ability to tolerate the procedure. Use care in the selection of your doctors and hospital, based on their skill and experience.
