Michael Charlier: Michael’s journey back to life

Michael is a passionate rollerblader and he loves to spend time outside with his dog.

Shortly before Christmas 2023, he felt sick and admitted himself to the hospital to get checked out. There, the medical team quickly discovered that he had suffered a heart attack and was falling into cardiogenic shock. With the support of ECMO and the ImpellaTM heart pump, an emergency surgery was performed, that saved his life. It meant, however, that he had to spend his Christmas holidays in hospital.

Slowly, Michael recovered and he couldn’t wait to spend Christmas 2024 with his family. A moment he had longed for since he got admitted a year earlier.
